Ghost who roams

We hold temporary exhibition "Yakumo Koizumi commemorative for birth 170 years" in Shinjuku Historical Museum in 2020 until from Saturday, October 10 to Sunday, December 6.

Ghost Wandering Ghost to roam about

2020 (Raiwa 2) is birth 170 years of literary person, Yakumo Koizumi (Lafcadio Hearn) who finished the life in Shinjuku.

After Yakumo being born in refukada island of Greece, and being brought up in Ireland, and having played an active part in the United States and the West Indies as writer, we visited Japan in 1890 (Meiji 23). We move with Matsue-shi, Shimane, Kumamoto-shi, Kobe-shi and, in 1904 (Meiji 37), die at home of Nishiokubo, Okubo-mura at the time. The life was trip of roam.

Make young; and with mother other; Yakumo that separated, and lost eyesight and property on young day. At this exhibition, pattern that is straight kizurasao hands introduces the middle of a journey of Yakumo that roamed about the world. And we cause shiver of thing - soul to invite to roam that he called "ghost" and focus on thing - which stirred him to creation and trace trace of creation of Yakumo that laid last article which continues being read now.
