Futabaen (village of sen meets)

Dyeing industry is a local industry of Shinjuku. It used be Kanda and Asakusa that was famous for dyeing, however, people who dedicated themselves to dyeing industry there moved to Shinjuku from Taisho era to the beginning of Showa Era in search for fresh water of Kanda river. Even today, there are many craftsmen. "Futabaen" is a dyeing studio established in Ochiai in 1920. Today, they offer us not only Japanese traditional clothes, but also ornament and furniture. In "Mini museum", you can observe the actual process of dyeing clothes.
